7th Screenshot Contests Results!

Challenge #1 – Release the Meme in You

For the first challenge, each participant came up with a new meme of their own inside the game. Maybe your retainers giving you trash while everyone else gets shiny minions, or missing the commander by one tile during the unreal mini-game.
And since we did not reveal the specifics on the rewards yet… here we go:

Rewards each week:

1️⃣st place: one reward from the FC chest, Zu mount, 2 mil gil
2️⃣nd place: one reward from the FC chest or 1 mil gil
3️⃣rd place: one reward from the FC chest or 750k gil

Prizes will be given out at the end of the contest.
So the winners at the end of this post, please be patient. 🙂
One more thing! The Free-form Contest Images will be published with the last week’s results!
So, if you did not finish your entry for this week, or you still have one idea you really want to do, feel free to publish it in our ~~free form category!~~

With that in mind, let’s see the results for this week!

“Lala Kick” by Xyhala

Xyhala came in at the last moment with this entry. The screenshot is based on a pre-existing meme, which went against the idea of the theme. However, the meme was well executed. All in all, a decent entry in the technical department! Characters are well lit even in dark, it’s always nighttime in this game when I want to take a screenshot anyway…

Also, we see the black bar to the side too, no idea where this comes from!

“Check Out sleepingdragons.eu” by Kong

Similar to Xyhala’s, this entry had the issue of misunderstanding the theme. We enjoyed the idea behind it, the poses and the effort that went into recreating the original meme, but for this same reason we couldn’t rank it any higher. Mirel will have some choice words when he finally sees it, so Kong has his own personal victory.

Does this now stay forever? Maybe.

“What a Strange Thing to Ask” by Jace

Jace came in with the weeb meme recreation, as it must be. While this entry suffers from the same as the two previous ones, we found the execution fantastic. You can tell a lot of effort went into getting the facial expressions, the camera angles and the location right. Sadly, the theme misunderstanding holds it back too much, but a really solid entry, especially in its execution.

You should certainly post this on reddit…

And so, we get into the top three for this week’s contest…

3rd Place – “Its a Waiting Game” by Laila

Laila sneaks into the podium with this entry. This was probably the most debated entry amongst the jury. Technically it isn’t perfect, perhaps some text would have helped, but in the end we enjoyed the idea and creativity of the meme. It is easy to relate with it and it is executed in a fun way. Who hasn’t had this experience with trusts?

If you put your trust in them, they can even win you third position

2nd Place – “An Endless Cycle” by Ryve

Our runner-up is none other than Ryve! And what an entry it is. We loved the idea and creativity behind it, and the way it is executed. It is a relatable meme, but executed in a fresh way inside the game. We had to get really into the nitty-gritty for our top two entries, and we found the technical aspect a bit lacking in this one, mostly in the lightning aspect. However, it is really an entry to be proud of, a very worthy second place and a really fun meme.

Now I will picture this whenever I look at my Steam library

1st Place – “Innocent Bystander” by Ciara

Ciara gets the win with this entry. While it was very close between our top two entries, Ciara edged the win with some excellent lightning work, especially on that second frame, poses that match what the meme tries to convey. Creatively, we liked the use of stickers to help the meme, and we found the whole execution unique. Overall, a very nicely put together meme, and our first winner in this contest. Congrats!

The best part of being a healer, honestly

See you in the next results!
