An elaborate Gold Saucer Guide

Gold Saucer mini-games

There are various mini-games scattered around the Gold Saucer. Each one is slightly different, most of them are easy to play but hard to master but there will certainly be a fitting one for everyone. You pay 1 MGP per game. If you win the game, you earn a set amount of MGP as reward. You can play all those mini-games as many times as you want (or have MGP), so they might be a nice in-between while waiting in queue for other things.

Crystal Tower Striker

Crystal Tower Striker can be found at the south of Wonder Square.

Once you start the game, you will see a bar on your lower screen that fills up fast over and over. Your goal is to hit the button when the bar is fully filled. The closer you get to that, the bigger the reward. The bar itself has three small colored areas on the right side. You only get points and therefore a reward if you hit in those colored areas. The bar fills up fast and unsteady though, so this game is best recommended for people with fast reflexes. A slightly different but similar and easier game is Cuff-a-Cur.

Cuff-a-Cur

Cuff-a-Cur can be found at event square, opposite of Moogle’s Paw, to the left if you’re coming from the aetheryte plaza.

This game is a simple test of strength. Right when you open it, you will see a bar on the lower end of your screen. You have 15 seconds to hit as close to the middle of the bar (the purple line) as possible. The closer you get, the bigger reward. A slightly different but similar and harder game is Crystal Tower Striker.

Monster Toss

You can find Monster Toss at Wonder Square below the stairs leading upwards if you come from the aetheryte plaza.

This game is very similar to those Basketball games in arcades. The goal is the same in Monster Toss. As soon as the game starts, you’ll see a bar and a slider going side to side on it. Your goal is to hit that little purple part of the bar as often as possible within 30 seconds. The more times you hit it, the bigger the MGP rewards at the end. Beware though, the purple spot will change with every hit no matter if you hit or missed.

Moogle’s Paw

You can find this game at Event Square next to the mini aetheryte.

This game is your average crane game. When you start the game, you will see a little screen with a moogle and some balls on it. You have 15 seconds to move the moogle to one of the balls shown. The bigger balls are easier to hit, but give a lower amount of MGP, while the small ball is harder to hit spot-on but gives a bigger reward.
On the lower part of the game interface you have two big red buttons. Those move the moogle, but beware, you can only hit each button once and only in order left to right. The left button will move the moogle to the right of the screen. The right button will move the moogle up. So what you want to do is, to hold the left button until the moogle is right below the ball you want to seize. Then hold the right button until the moogle is right on top of the ball. Every move is a one time chance and there is only one direction for the moogle to go. So if you hit the right side of the screen with the moogle, he will not bounce back!

Out on a Limb

You can find this game in the hallway between Minion Square and Chocobo Square.

When you first start the game, you see a slider that will decide the game’s difficulty. The Cactuar is the easiest while Titan is the hardest. Once you have set the difficulty, the actual game will start. Here you can see another slider going up and down on a half circle. The goal is to empty the progress bar below within the set time limit and the set amount of tries. If you hit the button, the slider will stop where it currently is and the progress bar will empty depending on how close you are to the hidden jackpot point. There will also be a message giving you a hint, if you are close to it, right on top of it or far away. Once you have emptied the progress bar, you win the game and get the chance to double down.
Double down means, you can use your remaining time on the mini-game, to play it again and potentially double your reward. You can double down up to 5 times, although if you lose or your time runs out, you won’t get any reward at all. So be cautious of your timer when you plan to double down!

The Finer Miner

The Finer Miner can be found in the hallway between Minion Square and Chocobo Square.

This game is a slightly harder version of Out on a Limb. Similar to Out on a Limb, you first decide the difficulty setting via a slider. Once again, Cactuar is the easiest and Titan is the hardest.
Once you have set the difficulty, you will see a big circle-like area in which a yellowish circle will grow and shrink. If you hit the button, the circle will stop where it currently is. Your progress bar below will then empty depending on how close you are to the hidden spot. There will also be a short message telling you how close you are and the size of the circle of your try will be greyed out during your next try as reference. Your goal is to empty the progress bar within the given time limit and within the given amount of tries. If you successfully manage to do so, you will get the chance for double down, which means you will have the chance to double your winnings. You can double down up to five times and while your amount of tries to find the hidden spot are renewed each double down, your remaining time will not be refreshed, so you should keep that in mind while deciding when best to double down and when not.
